How We Transformed a Cluttered Corner with Smart Laundry Room Organization Ideas

By Di Ter Avest

You know how sometimes one space in the house just doesn’t work, no matter how much you try to make it better? That was the case for one of our lovely clients. Their entire home had been beautifully renovated and decorated—everything looked like it came out of a magazine! But the laundry room was still not working for them. It had awkward shelving and no real system. And honestly, it just wasn’t working for them.

They’d tried to make it better, adding some small shelves mounted on the wall beside the washer and dryer, but they were hard to reach, and getting things in and out felt more like a chore than it should’ve been. So, they reached out for help, and we were excited to step in with our favorite laundry room organization ideas to create a space that actually worked for their lifestyle.

The Process: How We Work with Our Clients

Like every project we take on, it starts with listening. We chatted with the clients to understand what they needed from their laundry area—something easy to maintain, a place for everything, and, ideally, a clean look that wasn’t overwhelming. They also didn’t want to spend a ton or have built-in cabinets, so budget-friendly options were necessary.

They sent us measurements of the space, and we got to work. We created a custom shopping guide, complete with links to specific products and their prices, and a mood board tailored to their needs, style, and budget. This step is always so helpful because it gives our clients a visual idea of what their space could look like, and it helps them shop smart—not just buy random bins and baskets that don’t work in the end.

A Small Shift, A Big Difference

During our planning, we noticed that if the washer and dryer were shifted just slightly to the left, we could fit a sleek sliding cabinet on the right. It was a small adjustment that made a huge difference. The cabinet we found was slim but tall, and it fit like a glove in that little space. It was one of those why didn’t we do this sooner? moments.

When we arrived at their house to organize, the cabinet was already assembled and ready to go. We started by removing the wall shelves they had before—they weren’t really doing them any favors—and did some quick paint touch-ups, matching the existing color to freshen up the space.

Everything In Its Place

Next came the fun part—organizing! We sorted all the cleaning and laundry supplies, categorized them based on how often they were used, and found a proper home for everything inside the new cabinet. Another thing we we did as to made good use of the open shelves on the opposite side, placing baskets and bins that matched the cabinet and gave everything a clean, cohesive look.

We added simple labels to make it easy to grab what they needs without digging around. And just like that—no more messy shelves or awkward reaching. Everything is now easily accessible, beautifully tucked away, and most importantly, stress-free to use.

Why the Right Product Matters

This project was a perfect example of how choosing the right product can completely change how a space functions and looks. Our client had already tried to make their laundry room work, but the key was finding the right piece that fit her space and their needs. That’s what we love about sharing practical laundry room organization ideas—it’s not about buying more stuff, it’s about choosing smarter solutions that actually support your life.

If your laundry room feels like a mess no matter what you do, you’re not alone—and it’s totally fixable. With a little planning, the right storage solution, and a system that fits your day-to-day, even the most awkward corner can become a space you enjoy using. Remember, every space has the potential to be transformed into something beautiful and functional.
